iMAX B6 80W (clone) and USB logging?

Well I suspected it of being a clone when I bought it but thought it was worth a try ;-)

I've had it apart and it has an un-labled CPU and the pinout doesn't match anything I'm familiar with, sadly it's certainly NOT a MEGA32 :-(

It works well enough but wont let me charge at 1A, only 0.4A or less and there is a similar restriction on discharge.

There is a menu entry to turn on USB but it does nothing and the transmit pin (the center pin) sits at 0V relative to ground (right hand pin) with no TTL signal (or RS232 for that matter) even when charging or discharging. The temperature sensor works fine so the pins are connected.

Is this a common situation with clones?

Logging is a must for my needs so I'll return it but I was wondering where I could find a B6 where the logging works and is ideally based on a MEGA32 or similar.
