Eat for Equity: Saturday, May 21
In April, over 100 of you raised over $1500 for Oxfam America, an international relief and development organization that creates lasting solutions to poverty, hunger, and injustice. You voted to send money to Oxfam's work in El Salvador. Thanks so much to our hosts Omega House and to Dogwood Coffee for donated Salvadoran coffee. See pics and find out more at our website, eatforequity.org
This May, come on trail. Your supper money will go to the Emily Sandall Foundation, and its camper scholarship to help a deserving young person experience a wilderness trip. While she lived, our friend Emily's passion was working with youth, whether with street kids in Mexico and Nepal, or American teens in the wilderness. Emily died in 2006 while hiking in Yosemite, but her family continues her work and spirit with a foundation in her name, which supports organizations with a common mission of helping underprivileged youth. The foundation established a camper scholarship at YMCA Camp Menogyn, where Emily was a wilderness guide (and where she jumped in the lake, fully clothed, on countless occasions). An important criteria for the scholarship recipient is a passion for helping others through community service.

Want to help make it happen? Sign up to volunteer on Friday night, Saturday afternoon, or Saturday evening, and you can be a part of putting food on the table.
Want to come but need a ride? We're venturing out to the 'burbs for this month's Eat for Equity, which means a big back yard, friendly hosts, and fabulous brick oven. We want to make sure you have many options for transportation out to Plymouth. Option #1: Join a carpool list with friends or strangers-about-to-become-friends. Sign up here. Option #2: Bike just 12 miles to Plymouth, along the Cedar Lake Trail. Option #3: Drive, checking out this map for parking directions (we encourage you to park in a nearby parking lot, then take a short walk through the woods to Skip and Mary's).
