BURGER, Karl Stefan - January 18, 1969 - April 1, 2008. Karl Burger - husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend to so many, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2008. Born in Karlsruhe, Germany, he was adopted by Joan and Frank Burger and moved to Dartmouth as a preschooler, into the house in Humber Park where his parents still live and where so many good times have been shared with friends and neighbours. Karl graduated from Cole Harbour District High School in 1987 and went on to pursue studies at Saint Mary's University and become trained as an aircraft maintenance engineer. In August of 1991, he married his true love, Carmelle Crowell, and they set off as a young couple to make their life together. His two daughters, Lauren and Jenna, were Karl's greatest pride and most profound joy. He is so very deeply missed by his wife, Carmelle; daughters, Lauren and Jenna; parents, Joan Burger and Cyril Holman, and sister, Erika Burger (Ian McKergow and niece Kaya). He is also dearly missed by all of Carmelle's family, Marion, Richard, Dennis (Maureen and niece Kalei), Claudine (Jeff and nephew Nathan and baby-soon-to-arrive), and J.P. (Amanda). Karl was preceded in death by his father, Frank Burger Jr., and his grandfather, Frank Burger Sr. Karl was a man of great heart and immense kindness. His networks span far and wide. He will be missed by the Holman family in Sheet Harbour; the Burger family in British Columbia; the Thompson family in Alberta; Karl's birth family in Germany; his colleagues at Air Jazz; the many girls on the hockey teams he coached; his friends locally and from afar; dear family friends, and the communities of Humber Park and Porter's Lake. No visitation will be held. Funeral to take place on Monday, April 7, at 10 a.m. in St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 4 Beaverbank Rd., Lower Sackville, with a reception to follow in the church hall. Family flowers only, please.
