This really hurts, it’s a location we have all ridden on.  I am heartbroken. I did not know John personally, but it;s hard to imagine I haven’t ridden with him at some time.

Be careful out there

I did know John and he was an outstanding man. Last year he rode over 12,000 miles, exactly half the circumference of our planet.

Oddly enough I never rode or even talked about bikes with John but knew him as an actor and collaborated with him on several projects. Among his other talents was being a published author, which his hometown paper describes. His is a loss that affects many communities.

Really bad news, definitely sounds like a person who worked to make the world a better place. Another avid, experienced cyclist gone too soon from the local cycling community. Such a shame.

I didn’t know John well, but was acquainted with his riding and interests through Strava and Twitter, and we shared several of them.  John was a fellow Quebecer, and was roughly my age. He was trying to complete the second half of his circumference of the world ride this year. You may be familiar with his tin foil alien and flying saucer display on Hillsborough Road during Halloween season.  It always made me smile. This is such devastating news. My condolences to those of you who knew him better than I did.

I didn’t know John personally, but I‘ll be damned if I didn’t see him out riding almost every day. He was a real flahute, riding usually in shorts and what looked like a sweatshirt no matter the conditions. I always knew I’d see him out at some point on one of my rides.

RIP John.

Terrible news as we all have ridden along that route. Condolences to all who know John.
