Hi everyone, I've been thinking that it might be worth having a quiet get together of people trying to organise maker spaces in NZ.
I've heard through the grape vine that the Wellington maker space quietly stopped running (their website doesn't seem to have been active in a while). It sounds like a similar story to what happened in Christchurch; an active and viable group that getting quieter and quieter, until it was inactive (or at least that was my take).
Anyway a few heads from Christchurch, Wellington, Auckland (and any other spaces from NZ), getting together to have a chat (and probably a beer), about what worked and what didn't, might help NZ Makers in the future. One possibility would be to organise this around the same time as a big conference (Webstock/Nethui/Foocamp/etc) where many of the people might be going already. Last year the Webstock-mini conference and NZ Open Source awards ran in November so those might be options.
What do people think?
