Hi,

What's the current situation with Spacecraft? I am interested in
programming, robotics, and model making for film and product design,
and am looking for other likeminded people in Christchurch. In
particular right now I'd like to talk to anyone with a rapid
prototyper (reprap or similar) about using this type of technology for
constructing puppet armatures

Is there likely to be a Spacecraft meetup sometime soon, and are there
any suitable spaces in Christchurch that Spacecraft might startup
again in?

Thanks,
Kent

Hi Kent,

AFAIK, Spacecraft is on hiatus.. http://spacecraft.org.nz/

There is ChCh Robotics group you may want to join: http://kiwibots.org/

Mailing list for the group is here:
http://lists.ourshack.com/mailman/listinfo/chchrobotics

There is meetup every month. IIRC last one was on Feb 20 where Hanno
presented his new 3D printer.

Hope this helps.

Marek

What do you think it would take to get it out of hiatus? Monthly meet-ups are good, but I'm looking for something closer to a mens shed, where bulky or expensive tools can be shared, and projects worked on with others, rather than everyone solo in their own garage.

Perhaps joining forces with a mens shed would make sense?

Money, people and a venue, probably.

There's frequently talk of one of more of those things appearing but
nothing concrete has happened.

Perhaps you're the person to make it happen? :)
