Weekly Blurbs!*
One of the biggest issues Israel faces is the media being used to harm
Israel. Youtube is filled with slander and the news is always changing
the stories against Israel. Here is a bit of Israel propaganda that I
found on Youtube that is very interesting and pro Israel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNCGEwjbgDk
, This weeks Israel song of the week is Hayeladim Kofzim by Shotey
HaNevu'a. The song is in honor of the group that recently broke up. In
Israeli news Beit Hashalom has been evacuated and Israeli Police has
been called in to prevent violence from occurring.Until next time,Joshua Snider
Hello young lovers!
This week's Parsha is Vayetze, in which Jacob falls madly in love and
promptly marries… her sister. By accident. But eventually he ends up
married to both, with two concubines, twelve children, and being really
rich. So don't feel too sorry for him.
Fun Fact: Starting tonight, we will pray for rain in Israel during the
Amidah. This is one of the only times in Judaism we go by a solar
date, starting at the night of December 4th!
If you wonder, "Is Zac Effron really Jewish?" or the like, please e-mail me, and I will let you know!
From my happy place,
Gaby Geselowitz (Religion/Education VP)
Arctoph...@aol.comDearest Chazak: I hope you all had a WONDERFUL thanksgiving full of
food and SA/TO and thanks and giving. 'Twas marvelous to see plenty of
you at the Turkey Hop (not to mention, you guys brought in loads of
cans for BEAST's collection!). Anyway, I think I should clarify what
happens to Tikun Olam money. 30% goes to scholarships for USY programs
so that as many teens as possible can enjoy USY like we do regardless
of financial situations! Another 30% goes towards the tikun olam budget
and conservative movement programs in Israel! The remaining 40% goes
towards regional (or chapter) allocations. Basically, there's a huge
list of organizations that is sorted through every year on the
International SA/TO level for each region to chose from to allocate to.
Starting next week (because this blurb is becoming super long), I'll
talk about one of these organizations in each blurb. I want you guys to
be aware of where you're money's going. Seriously, you'll notice that
we actually do make a difference!!!!
Love, Shaina Stern Chazak SA/TO VP 2008-2009
Hiii Chazak!
It was lovely seeing lots of you at the Turkey Hop last week!
For those of you who didn't make it, I really hope to see you next
wednesday at our first annual Inter-Divisional lounge night!!! This
lounge night is with our neighbor and ally, the members of the Rakevet
division! We the members of Nassau must stick close to our Suffolk
brethren, and coming to this lounge night is a great way to connect.
It's going to be super duper fun so I really hope you all can make
it!!! In last week's episode, I talked about what an impact we could
have if we all bring just ONE friend. That challenge still stands.
Lounge Nights are a wonderful first event for people, they're very
chill and it's not a huge commitment, it's only two hours out of your
day!! The eventt is at Manetto Hill Jewish Center on December 10 from 7
- 9 PM. I REALLY REALLY HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL THERE!!!!
You Stay Classy, Chazak.
Your faithful Mem/Kad,
Rebecca Faye Silverman III
Hey Chazak! The Turkey Hop was a blast. I was amazing seeing all of you and the USY alumna. The next event coming up is the Inter Divisional Lounge night with Rakevet at Manetto Hill Jewish Center. It would be awesome if you could make it to hang out with your favorite people from chazak and Rakevet. The event is from 7:00pm - 9:00pm. The cost is five dollars. There is an event created on facebook and the information is always on the website.
Have a great shabbos, a great week and i look froward to seeing you guys at lounge night.Andrew Zachary Cohen
