Shalom! I hope everyone had an amazing time at the kinnus and that they learned so much from from my Israel program. In recent Israeli news Prime Minister Ehud Olmert may be indicted on charges of fraud and breach of trust. The Attorney General,Menachem Mazuz, is bringing the charges. Also, in Chazak news we have started a new section on the website called Israeli song of the week. Here I will work with Andrew Cohen to post a new song every week. This way you can all get culturally involved with Israel.

Shalom!

Shalom Aleichem Kinderlach (Hi Kids)!

It's been awhile since the last blurb, but hopefully I saw you all at Encampment and Fall Kinnus!  This week's Parsha is Toldot, which starts with Jacob and Esau being born, and ends with the latter wanting to kill the former.  Who needs soaps when you have the Torah?

Fun Fact: Did you know that the ancient Kind of Israel, David, was an early rock star?  He is said to have edited and put together the book of Psalms, including writing several himself.  The Psalms are beautiful poems/songs, so it's nice to know that David (Melech Yisrael) had such a sensitive side.

Finally, should you be sitting at home, and the question should suddenly pop into your head, "Is there a story that Shimon Bar Yochai once shot lasers out of his eyes?" feel free to e-mail me!  I'll be happy to explain that, or anything else from Judaism.

Tuning in, turning off, dropping out, dropping in, switching off, switching on, and exploding:

Hi Chazak!
First off, I'd like to congratulate everyone at fall kinnus for raising $1900! This is truely an incredible accomplishment and I couldn't be any prouder of our fabulous (and generous!) division. On another note, we all have a lot to be thankful for on Thanksgiving, and now is the perfect opportunity to get involved in some social actions. This time of year there are so many organizations doing can collection drives (even USY at the Turkey Hop!!) and soup kitchens looking for volunteers. Even just wishing somebody a happy Thanksgiving can really brighten their day. It's nearly impossible to miss out on social actions right now; we're surrounded with opportunities!! On that note: have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Enjoy your four-day weekend eating, relaxing, showing appreciation and helping out!

 Hiiii chazak!

Now that Blurbs are back with a vengeance, I just want to thank you all for taking the time to read them!
In this week's episode of Becca's Blurb, I want to talk about how excited I am about the very high awesomeness level of Chazak. For all of those that came to Fall Kinnus – it was incredible!! I am so glad you could make it. And for those who didn't-SPRING KINNUS IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER!!
Chazak has so much fun stuff coming up, so I want to remind you to BRING YOUR FRIENDS!! Start off small; take them to a cute chapter event. Eventually, you'll be able to ease them into divisional and regional events. It is so worth it to take five minutes convincing someone to come! Think about how many people we can have at our next event if each of you brings only ONE friend. DOOO ITTTT!!
Anyway, I'm so excited to be doing these blurbs again, and if any of you have any questions or comments or anything please call or e-mail or im me!!
You stay classy, Chazak.

P.S. SEE YOU ALL AT TURKEY HOP TONIGHT!!!

Hello Chazak!

I know I will be seeing most of you tonight at the awesome Turkey Hop at BEAST meadow but if you are missing out on this spectacular event stay posted for upcoming events. We plan on having a lounge night and more events before Kallah, which is February 6th to 8th.  Be sure to check out the website because I have been updating it with new pictures and an Israeli song of the week is also added.

-Andrew Cohen
