Hello Chazak! I hope you are all enjoying your summer off! At the same
we are relaxing, we must be aware of what is going on in Israel right
now.

Israel is currently planning to begin the disengagment plan, the
Hitnatkut in Hebrew, in a little over two weeks. The disengament will
bring about the withdrawal of the Israeli settlers and Defense Forces
from the Gaza strip. The pros and cons of the disengagment have been
debated throughly in the Jewish community around the world.

As Jewish teens, we should be informed and knowledgable about issue at
hand. I urge you all to seek out more information on the disengagement
and form justified opinions. Be careful to make sure the information
you seek out is not bias or one-sided. In any case, www.haaretz.com is
one safe site to just get the straight facts on what has been happening
and what will happen in the next few weeks. Also, you may want to
consider visiting the Israel HighWay (www.israelhighway.org); Israel
HighWay is a weekly email publication prepared specifically for high
school students.
