A Very Merry Christmas and a Hugely Happy New Year to all our family and friends!
Where are we? The ‘rents (That’s what our kids call us) are still at Chautauqua Institution in far-western New York, spending summers in our cottage at 49 Miller, and winters in a comfy basement apartment at 41 Foster. Peter is still at Boeing in Seattle. Sandy, Bruce and Annie are in Texas where Bruce teaches theology at Southern Methodist U. Tim and family is still in Oneonta. David is at Tabor Academy in Tabor, MA, Ian in Albany (computers for NY State) Doug and Conny live on a palatial estate near Sidney NY, and their charges are working in Albany. Don and fam are still near Montgomery Al, where Don works for the the federal Department of Interior and Mary Ellen (ME) teaches near Ashville NC
No Christmas greeting from here is complete without a quote from Dickens, so, in the words of Scrooge’s nephew, “I am sure that I have always thought of Christmas time…as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable time; the only time I know of in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, …and therefore,, uncle, though it has never put a scrap of gold or silver in my pocket, I believe that that done me good, and will me good; and I say, God bless it!”
And of course, the final words of the story, “It was always said of (Scrooge)…that he knew how to keep Christmas well, if any man alive possessed the knowledge. May that be truly said of us, and all of us! And as Tiny Tim observed “God bless Us, every one”
