We will be spending three months this summer at Chautauqua and are curious as how season people manage their mail. Do you get PO Box?  I see its a few hundred dollars to have premium fowarding through USPS.  Is it worth it? Do  you have your mail at home held? Thanks in advance!

Hi,
You can get a free P.O. Box at the post office in Chautauqua if you are a property owner. You need to show proof (copy of a deed or taxes paid should work).  Not sure what is available for renters but you might contact USPS to ask!

Have a great summer,

Hi all
PO Boxes are not free. There is an annual fee to rent the actual box

Hello Carol,

This is my second year as the Chautauqua Women's Club as their House Manager.  I am from Mississippi.  I rented a P.O. box on the grounds and have had my mail temporarily forwarded.  If you call the post office on the grounds, and explain that you would like to rent a box, they may hold it for you until you arrive, which they did for me last year and this year. I paid for it when I arrived on the grounds.    I completed a form online with the USPS forwarding my mail.  It takes about 2-3 weeks to process which means you may not receive your mail for about 2-3 weeks. I cannot remember the charge, but it was very minimal to complete the forwarding process online.  I think the charge is around $5.00-$10.00.  The staff at the post office are quite friendly and helpful.

If I can help you in any way further, please do not hesitate to contact me.
