Bestor Plaza Christmas Tree

I visit the webcam nearly every day.  I've yet to see any festive decorations in Bestor Plaza?  Anybody have an idea why they didn't put up a Christmas tree or other seasonal lights?

Dear Mary Lou and our entire Grapevine (and Webcam) Family:

We have decorated Bestor Plaza in much the same way as in recent past years. There are soft white lights, bright red bows, and beautiful greens and garlands throughout the plaza and on the adjacent Institution buildings.  The most sacred symbols of this season, a menorah and a creche, are situated prominently in front of the Post Office/Bookstore building.  Not all of these features are easily viewable from the Plaza Cam.  Perhaps if we get a blanket of snow before the holiday, they will appear more prominently to our webcam viewers.

We were unable to secure from our suppliers a tree for Bestor Plaza that was large enough for the location this year. Trees adorn several of our offices and public spaces (Welcome Center, Library, Bookstore). Moving forward, we are planning to invest in an outdoor display-quality artificial tree, so we can ensure we always have an appropriately-sized tree on the plaza for the winter holiday season.

We have issued a wide and welcoming invitation to the region to visit the grounds this coming weekend for "The Weekend Before Christmas" sales and activities.  We hope our dear friends who watch from afar will be able to get a sense of the joy of the season if you check in on the webcam Saturday and Sunday.  We sure wish you were here, but send you warm greetings as you celebrate the season in your homes away from your Chautauqua home.
