It is with a sad but joy-filled heart that I write to tell Chautauquans of the death of Sally Grove. Sally and her husband Dick were hosts at the United Methodist House for a decade. She was a wonderful host! From warm blueberry muffins on Thursday mornings to participating in laugh filled conversations on the porch well into the night,to writing an extensive email blast summarizing the weeks activities, her love for and commitment to Chautauqua, and the house was infectious. Upon retiring, she continued to be a part of the community by logging into the Chautauqua Assembly almost every day.
After Sally and Dick retired, we would break our journey from Boston to Chautauqua with an overnight at their home in Kenmore. Dinner time was filled with good food, good company and rich conversation. Knowing that it was my husband‘s favorite, she delighted in serving homemade strawberry-rhubarb pie for dessert .
Sally is survived by her three children, their spouses and partner, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom she adored, and who returned her love in full measure.
