Start your new year with a thought-provoking program at the Robert H. Jackson Center on Friday, January 9 at 6pm in the Cappa Theater. January’s topic is Do We Still Believe in Free Speech? Our guest is Aaron Saykin, current partner at Hodgson Russ in Buffalo and a former investigative journalist. From internet misinformation to student protests to Neo-Nazi marches, what are the limits of expression, and how do we navigate the chaos of modern public discourse? A conversation about values, noise, and truth. What is the difference between free speech and harmful speech? Should all speech be protected even if it’s false or offensive? How do we balance freedom of expression with truth and public safety?
