A number of beloved Chautauquans have passed away in recent months, and we have been asked to share the following notices or obituaries with the community through the Grapevine.  Obituaries are linked from each individual's name unless otherwise noted.    

Betty Pfohl, long-time friend of Chautauqua Institution, died March 28. 

Becky Spanos died March 23.  Becky was a long time Chautauquan and long time member of both Motet Choir and Chautauqua Choir.  

Robert J. Grandizio Sr. died March 2.

Pat Dietly passed away February 28. Her daughter shared her obituary here as well.  Pat served on the Boards of Chautauqua Institution, the Presbyterian House, and the Chautauqua Women’s Club.

As her daughter shared, Barbara Turbessi, an active patron of the arts at Chautauqua, died February 26. 

Bernice G. Schnee died February 17 (obituary attached). For nearly 60 years, she and her husband Murray spent their summers in Chautauqua where Murray played in the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra and she took ceramics lessons.

Longtime Chautauquan David Zinman died February 12.  

Devoted Chautauquan Shirley Digel died September 7, 2022.
