Dear Chautauquans,

I wanted to share this information with you from Buildings and Grounds.
I realize it is after the fact for a couple of the closures, but I also want to let you know that this type of information will be and has been posted on the website, CHQ.ORG in the Community Portal.
Moving forward, look for this type of information under the Latest News & Updates section Community Portal - Chautauqua Institution

NOTIFICATION OF ROAD CLOSURES AND ROAD WORK

Chautauqua Institution will begin our annual road reconstruction work starting on Monday, May 8, depending upon the weather. Please make alternative plans for access. The current plan for work and closures is as follows, but will vary slightly due to weather and progress variations:

May 11: Morris Avenue will be under a complete closure and will only be accessible for emergencies. This work will continue throughout the entire week, but some access may be possible later in the week.

Later in the week of May 11: Ramble Avenue behind the Colonnade, with some parking spaces being disrupted behind the Colonnade for a few days.

Week of May 18: Pratt Avenue from Hurst to Root will be closed for up to two weeks.

May 21: Turner entrance gate area on Foss Ave will likely be affected for approximately three days.

Week of May 25: Main Entrance Gate underpass tunnels will be impacted (one at a time).

Week of June 1: South Avenue from Massey Avenue to the gate hut will be impacted.

We will also be continuing throughout the pre-season with various road repairs and patches that should not require complete road closures, but please be aware and use caution as you approach these areas.

Please note that these dates will likely change due to weather and construction complexities. We will try to keep you informed if significant variations occur. Thank you for your patience!

Respectfully,

Office of Campus Planning & Operations
