There aren't many places that have all of the equipment that is designated by MIT as an MIT Fablab, in fact, there isn't a single one in the state of Tennessee (Here's the list:
http://fab.cba.mit.edu/about/labs/). One of the most expensive pieces, is the the 4x8 CNC mill, which Jason currently owns. It would be a nice goal to have all the stuff we need to qualify within a year. I know Tim is confident that we can get this.
tool list
- A computer-controlled lasercutter, for press-fit assembly of 3D structures from 2D parts
- A larger (4'x8') numerically-controlled milling machine, for making furniture- (and house-) sized parts
- A signcutter, to produce printing masks, flexible circuits, and antennas
- A precision (micron resolution) milling machine to make three-dimensional molds and surface-mount circuit boards
- Programming tools for low-cost high-speed embedded processors
