Cy (Raining On Samuel)

Cy is a very complex guy. In the book he is about 28 although his age
is never really said. He was married to Ava for three years out of
high school when their marraige was shortly cut off by a horrible car
wreck that killed her (highlighting on that in another post.) Cy
becomes a drunk in order to deal with the loss of his young wife and
the self guilt he has. Cy is a therapist who wishes to die. Through
the whole book I wondered how Cy could possibly help Gabbi when he is
at war with himself but I had help.

Starting the book I promised myself that all my characters would be
notebook born (not based on people) and so I bought a small pink
notebook and began dreaming them up; although Cy had other plans.
While Cy began as a notebook character he started to resemble a man in
my life (not naming names) and I fought to keep him in the notebook
and out of my life but that didn't happen. Eventually I just gave up
and accepted the fact that Cy had become a guy I knew (no bias needed)
and there was nothing I could do about it.

This same guy inspired 'Chasing Whiskey' but that is another story...
