For practical (the prices only go up, never go down) and emotional reasons (like the looks, like to feel premium)...@_@

It can be a good investment like the below article mentioned but just be ware of the risk you're taking. The value depends heavily on how well the condition is, which poses a dilemma -- if you use it, you have to be very cautious to protect it almost all the time, which can be distracting. It's also susceptible to theft. 


The weixin article mentioned a handbag that cost $220 in 1955 has appreciated 60 times to $4830. If the number is not inflation adjusted, the real appreciation after considering inflation is just 20 times.

If the investment value goes against the will to use, what drives the prices up for luxury goods?
