I got fished finally. You can tell it is a startup (e.g. no rental offered). Uber is actually fine since I want to get some Uber ride experience before I apply for their openings. Slack paid for it :)

Hi Andy,

Great news, I would love to invite you for an onsite interview here at Slack! Please let us know what your availability is like for the next few weeks. We would like to fly you out a day before your interview so you can get adjusted and relax a little. Our interviews will normally start between 1:00PM PST - 2:00PM PST and last about 3 - 3.5 hours.

As mentioned during our conversation, our on-site interview is like no other! We don't believe in having you whiteboard useless algorithms. We personally feel it is not an accurate measure of your talents. A portion of your interview will be focused on your coding exercise as well as trying to get an understanding of your high level overview of how things work. You will not need a laptop, either.

Please provide us with the following:

1. Full Name as shown on your ID
2. DOB
3. Airport you wish to fly out of

For your transportation, you can grab a taxi or any public transit which will be reimbursed (save your receipt). I highly recommend utilizing Uber or Lyft. For meal reimbursements, please keep your receipts and submit them to us with the attached expense form. Here are the guidelines: Breakfast - $15, Lunch - $20, Dinner - $25. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly.

Best,
Julie

So you might need to crash at 志盟's?

Great. They didn't say much about what you will be expected to demonstrate though 🤔
Perhaps, they will see a night of hotel cost as reasonable expense. I do see they will reject in-room expenses but not room expenses 😅

Eric

Looks like I don't need to crash at 志盟's home (although it'd be nice to see him again too). Hilton in SF is probably not a hotel every startup can afford for recruiting unless they can raise $340M like Slack did.

Hi Andy,

You should have received an email from Alaskan Airlines. I got you on the AS316 flight. The next night your flight is at 7:30pm out of SFO.

You confirmation number is: YRRBGB

As for your hotel, you have a room for Monday, February 8, 2016 at Parc 55 (a Hilton Hotel). It is very close to the office.

The reservation is under your name and your confirmation number is: 3234339117

http://www.parc55hotel.com/

Later next week I will send over Lyft codes so you can get from SFO to the hotel and back to SFO!

Please let me know if you have any questions :)

Ramey

Hi Ramey,

No worries. Can you check if there are flights leaving SEA at around 2 pm (e.g. AS316 if you book through Alaska Airlines)? Thanks.

Hi Andy,

I apologize for all the emails :) I've booked your hotel and will send over your confirmation shortly.

We will have you fly back to Seattle Tuesday evening (and of course will make sure there is enough time to get to the airport!)

As for your flight from Seattle > SFO on Monday, do you have a preferred time of departure?

Yes I can fly in on Monday and interview on 2/9. I will make way for the Superbowl fans. Thanks for checking!

Thanks for sending that over! Also, are you able to fly to SF on Monday and interview on Tuesday?

It would be a little crazy to fly in Sunday and interview Monday (as the Superbowl is that Sunday and already has San Francisco very congested!)

Let me know!

Hi Andy,

Great to (virtually) meet you! I'm currently working on making arrangements for your visit to our SF office. Would you be able to send over your address? We need it to book a hotel room for you.

I will be able to send you your interviews, flight info, and hotel info later today!

Best,

Ramey

Hi Andy,

Thanks for sending this over! I've sent your information to our Recruiting Coordinator, Ramey Dallimonti, who will be confirming all the details with you within the next day or two. If you have any questions, feel free to follow up with me.

With regards to your interviewers, I will certainly follow up with names as soon as the panel is finalized. Please keep in mind this is subject to change based on availability.

Hi Julie,

I am able to fly in to SF between 2/3 and 2/5 (Wed-Fri) or the following Monday (2/8). Feel free to let me know if you need more dates for buffering.

1. Full name:  Andy Hang Cheung  (Hang is my middle name on my ID)
2. DOB: 9/26/74
3: Outbound airport: SEA

Would you mind sharing the names of the interviewers when they are finalized, if possible? I hope to have an idea of their background before meeting them in person. I am thrilled to have a chance  meet the hiring team at Slack.

Thanks.
