Please reply YES if you can join us to raise issues, explore
opportunities, and plan actions to cultivate compassionate political
activity.
This full-day workshop will take place September 18 at a location in
San Francisco to be determined.
Countless activist organizations are engaged in political efforts to
improve public policies in order to promote justice, relieve
suffering, enhance opportunities, and protect the environment. And in
the private sphere countless individuals have learned how to engage
skillfully in compassionate actions that foster self-development,
spiritual growth, productive group dynamics, and community service.
If activist organizations incorporated more of those lessons from the
private sector into their political efforts, might they attract more
compassion-minded individuals and be more effective? That is what we
want to find out. Let’s work together to explore this question.
Bring any idea or question you have about compassionate politics –
whatever you are most passionate about.
At the start of the workshop, you'll be able to place your passion on
our working agenda. Then you can work with anyone else who shares your
interest. And join others in working on their ideas.
All participants are encouraged to participate in the entire event.
Each action group will be encouraged to record points of agreement and
consider whether they want to meet again. The workshop will conclude
with consideration of whether to convene again in 3-6 months to
consider the issues more fully. A buffet lunch will be provided.
Childcare will be arranged if needed. A record of all decisions will
be distributed to all participants.
Information about likely participants will be posted at
http://charternetwork.org/Workshop.Home .
If you want to participate, please reply YES to this email and let us
know if you need childcare or have any questions or suggestions.
Please share this invitation with anyone you think might be interested
in learning and contributing to this conversation.
Thanks for your attention. We hope you join us.
