Please accept my humble obeisances. Jaya Srila Prabhupada!
Hope you all are having a wonderful day and off course looking forward
to this coming long weekend!! Let's keep in touch and we could have
some spiritual fun together! Haribol!
Yesterday was a great night when each one of you shared very inspiring
spiritual moments with one other. I offer my heartfelt thanks to all
those who came and participated in the session last night.
The special topic for discussion (or exercise), which we called Mind
Games, was derived from the article written by HH Bhakti Tirtha Swami
Maharaja: Exercises to grow in Krishna Consciousness. Devotees, who
know Him, certainly felt his presence as if He was personally speaking
to us.
The congregation was grouped into 2 with 6 members in each. Group One
chose the topic: List our weaknesses, while group 2 worked on the next
one: Giving Vs Holding Back.
Some of the points Group One listed as their weakness were;
procrastination in terms of reading or engaging in devotional
activities; making Krishna a priority in their life; desiring material
opulence; fear of being left alone which sometimes could lead to
depression; lack of confidence; fear of failure, so never attempted to
start any spiritual activity; tendency to feel superior over others,
etc.
Group Two's "hold back" points were; to manage time properly so
chanting could be increased; focus on spreading preaching activities;
spend more time reading Srila Prabhupada's books; keep the mind free
from unwanted thoughts; watch more spiritual videos, etc.
After both groups presentation, we went "around the table" and
everyone contributed thoughtfully to assist and/ or encourage the
points raised by quoting scriptures and Srila Prabhupada's examples.
One of the major deficiencies which is found to be hindering our
spiritual progress is our poor time management or simply not doing
enough to nourish our devotional career. Time spent in associating
with matters adverse to Krishna consciousness develops thoughts in
that particular direction, pulling us more and more away from Krishna
and His devotees. All of us agreed to work on being in touch with the
devotees as much as we could.
For next week I suggest we could switch the topics with the same
groups and explore more of our spiritual potential.
Thank you all once again, for your enthusiasm, encouragement and
serious participation.
Hope this meets you all in the bliss of Krsna consciousness.
Your servant and friend,
Dvaipayana dasa
Padma
