PastelAccounting and QuickBooks are two popular accounting software options for small businesses. They both offer features such as invoicing, expense tracking, reporting, and tax compliance. But how do you choose the best one for your needs? In this article, we will compare the pros and cons of Pastel Accounting and QuickBooks, and give you some tips on how to make an informed decision.

Pastel Accounting is a South African software company that has been in the market since 1989. It offers a range of accounting solutions for different sizes and types of businesses, from sole traders to large enterprises. Pastel Accounting is known for its user-friendly interface, local support, and compliance with South African tax laws and regulations. Some of its products include Pastel Xpress, Pastel Partner, and Pastel Evolution.

QuickBooks is a global software company that has been in the market since 1983. It offers a variety of accounting solutions for different industries and sectors, from freelancers to nonprofits. QuickBooks is known for its cloud-based platform, integration with other apps, and customization options. Some of its products include QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, and QuickBooks Enterprise.

Both Pastel Accounting and QuickBooks have features that can assist with managing finances, such as creating and sending invoices and quotes, recording and tracking income and expenses, generating and exporting reports and statements, calculating and filing taxes and VAT, managing inventory and stock, as well as handling multiple currencies and bank accounts. However, there are also some differences between the two software packages. For example, Pastel Accounting has more advanced features for payroll, budgeting, and auditing, while QuickBooks has more features for online payments, e-commerce, and project management. Additionally, Pastel Accounting offers more options for offline and desktop-based software, while QuickBooks has more options for online and cloud-based software. Furthermore, Pastel Accounting provides more local support and training for South African customers, while QuickBooks has more global support and resources for international customers.

The pricing of Pastel Accounting and QuickBooks depends on the type and level of software you choose, as well as the number of users and features you need. Generally speaking, Pastel Accounting tends to be more expensive than QuickBooks, especially for the online and cloud-based options. For example, Pastel Xpress Online costs R299 per month for one user, while QuickBooks Online costs R149 per month for one user. However, Pastel Accounting also offers some discounts and deals for annual payments, referrals, and upgrades.

Pastel Accounting and QuickBooks both have customer reviews online, which vary depending on their experience and satisfaction with the software. Customers of Pastel Accounting generally appreciate the ease of use, reliability, and security of the software, but can be frustrated by its high cost, limited integration, and slow updates. On the other hand, customers of QuickBooks often enjoy the flexibility, versatility, and accessibility of the software, but may be disappointed by the poor customer service, frequent bugs, and steep learning curve.

Deciding between Pastel Accounting and QuickBooks can be daunting, as it depends on factors like budget, preferences, industry, and goals. To make a better decision, compare the features and benefits of each software for your specific needs and requirements. Additionally, look into the compatibility and integration of each software with your existing systems, tools, and apps. Furthermore, read customer reviews and ratings of each software on different platforms and sources. Finally, seek professional advice or recommendations from your accountant, bookkeeper, or consultant to get their opinion and experience with each software.

I work with persons with disabilities attending post-secondary and Sage is used in many accounting programs. I am new to the Sage accounting software packages having no prior experience myself and have run into a situation I'm hoping someone has encountered previously.

My particular situation has a blind student attending an accounting program at post-secondary where they use Sage 50 and Sage 300. The blind student's method of accessing software on the computer is through JAWS on a windows based computer or through Voiceover on a Mac computer. Both JAWS and Voiceover read the contents of the screen aloud to the blind person using the computer in order to successfully perform their tasks, essentially JAWS and Voiceover act as the blind person's eyes when using a computer.

In my recent trials of attempting to accommodate a student to fulfill the outcome of the accounting program they are attending I've met with no success of getting their screen reading programs to work when using Sage 50 or 300. Through the internet I've located some discussion on disability groups on Sage and it's inaccessibility with none providing an alternative to allow access. Speaking to individuals who are blind being employed in companies who use Sage as their accounting package, these individuals are completely blocked from performing any job duties that would need Sage to do their work.

Where Sage is widely used for accounting practice in small to medium size businesses, I'm looking to know has anyone encountered an employee who is blind not being able to access business processes due to the Sage software being inaccessible?

If this situation has been encountered in the past, what have you implemented in order to allow the blind employee to continue working with the Sage accounting software, or as well work accommodations that adjust job duties to avoid the seemingly brick wall of Sage?

Hey, looked into a bit to see if I could find any 3rd party programs that would help with what you are looking for, didnt find any, but if you were looking to build a program to do this the software development kit can be found here.

Why is Instant Bookkeeping Entries important? I remember when we started DOKKA, we began working with a desktop accounting package in a small country that is only used by Bookkeeping companies in that country. We were solving a very real need for those bookkeepers, and we quickly started saving them a large amount of time, and a fair amount of aggravation.

We analysed the markets as best as we could, and looked at the different accounting software packages being used in each country, and decided that we would integrate with 2 accounting packages to start:

We also decided that we needed to integrate soon into many other packages, including SAGE, (and there are many different versions of SAGE and Pastel both in country, and across country), Kashflow, FreeAgent, Reckon1, SAP and a number of other accounting software packages.

There are a variety of packages available. Here are some Sage pastel products for your accounting needs. Choosing between them all can be difficult which is why we created this simple comparison on what each product offers and which one you should choose. Each business is unique and so are your accounting requirements. We will review all of the different Sage Pastel Accounting products and which one is best for your business.

The first step to choosing the correct Sage accounting software solutions is being honest with yourself about the size of your business. Smaller businesses can survive using more limiting options such as Sage One which is an affordable cloud business accounting software. Your suggestions and needs are the number one driver of all the innovations during the accounting software manufacturing/Development.

What is the difference between Sage 200 Evolution and Sage 100 Evolution? The majority of the core product features are the same, however, Sage 100 Evolution does allow you to segment inventory items and also excludes the General Ledger feature. Sage 100 evolution is incompatible with a few of the available modules as well. You can not use job costing, manufacturing, lot tracking, customer account consolidations, customer credit risk management, scheduled invoicing, annuity billing, retail POS, branch accounting, project tracking, procurement, or municipal billing.

The core features of Sage 50Cloud Pastel partner are similar to those of Sage 100 Evolution with a few slight differences. Sage 50 cloud does not offer unlimited users. You are limited to a maximum of 20. You can also only run a maximum of 2 financial years and a total of 30 cash books. This is the only Sage accounting package that offers Time & Billing as well as receipting.

If you want all the power of Sage accounting software but are a little smaller in scale and budget then Sage one is the solution for you. Sage one is a cloud-based solution that uses an online database manager. It has all the core features except the ability to segment inventory items.

It is essential to ensure that you invest in a solution that fits your unique business requirements. Small business owners generally tend to rush to the lower-cost entry-level software such as Zoho Books, or Quickbooks which results in a higher cost of lost opportunities due to a lack of advanced reporting and integration capabilities.
