Welcome to the Village Parents listserv! I'm glad you found us and hope we can help connect you to more families in and around Charles Village.

Village Parents is a large group of families that try to help each other by sharing recommendations for nannies, daycares, pediatricians, schools, gently used children's items for sale, etc., as well as any other family-oriented news in our neighborhood or within greater Baltimore.

Please begin by reading our Village Parents Listserv Posting Guidelines (included below). After that, you are welcome to post to the group any time to ask for or make recommendations, or to share information or events that may be of interest to families in the neighborhood. You can manage your settings to receive messages individually or in a daily summary here.

Village Parents Listserv Posting Guidelines

The Village Parents listserv was created to help build a parenting community in which members support each other, while treating one another with respect, kindness, and compassion. When posting to this list, please adhere to the following guidelines and help create an inclusive and supportive community in Charles Village.

We strive to be a safe and secure environment for all our members. We gently moderate the listserv to keep messages within our guidelines. We accept most messages, however, we reserve the right to reject messages that we do not believe will benefit our subscribers or which are in conflict with our guidelines. In those cases, we do our best to explain our reasons to the sender.

Please do:

Respect. Treat all the members of our community with kindness, humanity, and respect.
Help a neighbor out. Take a minute to answer someone’s question or request. The list works best if we all pitch in.
Be mindful of replies. Let’s keep the listserv traffic manageable. Reply to the whole list if the answer will benefit the general reader. Reply directly to the poster when posts are personal or you are working out a one-on-one transaction. Also, sign your posts and consider sending a summary of advice you receive.
Accept one another. Diversity of race, age, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender orientation, and political views help make Charles Village a great place to live. Additionally parenting comes in many forms, whether it is foster, adoptive, surrogate or other. Acceptance and mutual respect helps us all thrive.
Maintain privacy. Forwarding group or private messages to other people, websites, blogs, or reproducing them in any way, without explicit permission from the poster, is not allowed.

Please do NOT post:

Solicitations that are not relevant to family- or child-related needs (such as an adult clothing store).
Excessive solicitations from family-related businesses. If you have firsthand experience with a business you want to recommend, please put it in your own words and include a link and refrain from posting advertisements.
Fundraising requests, with the exception in which a family has suffered a tragedy and neighbors are putting together meal trains or other assistance.
Harmful or discriminatory language or derogatory comments.
