I am looking to sign up to a charity trek in india (starting and ending
in Dharamsala). Ideally I would like the funds I raise to go towards a
charity that benefits the local communties, preferably along a
sustainable agriculture or envrironmental theme. The charity must be
UK registered.

I am having difficulty finding such a charity, does anyone have any
suggestions/good links etc?

Thanks in advance for your help!

to char...@googlegroups.com

is this

http://www.charitychallenge.com/home.php

the homepage of the organisation that will assist your charity trek/
fundraising project ?

might be interesting to read a detailed first hand experience report
( how it all happened, how the organisations support was... and of course the story of the trip itself, which by itself can be a (side)motivation for people to support/donate : enabling someone to experience life/moving in pristine nature and participating at it trough journal/report/documented writing and or pictures/film )

to your question:

i just typed in the tree words at google:

permaculture charity uk

and

found

http://www.pfaf.org/

as the first entry

----------------

trough this organisation ( of which i am not sure if it is a registered charity )

http://www.permaculture.org.uk/mm.asp?nolinks=y&mmfile=news_greeningthedesert

it might be possible to support a greening the desert project in lebanon
