We're sending them because a basic education significantly increases lifetime earnings and serves as one of the most effective defenses against HIV. A UN study estimates that providing a complete primary education for all children would prevent 700,000 cases of HIV among young adults every year. ![]() As the Student Outreach Assistant, I work every day with students in the U.S. who are fiercely committed to serving the poor. These students will become clinicians, educators, policymakers, and more -- pitting their education against poverty and disease.
