Subject: Going Back to School

Partners In Health

Dear Galen,

This fall Partners In Health is sending more than twenty thousand students back to school.

We're sending them because education dramatically impacts both poverty and health. We're sending them because a basic education significantly increases lifetime earnings and serves as one of the most effective defenses against HIV. A UN study estimates that providing a complete primary education for all children would prevent 700,000 cases of HIV among young adults every year.

As the Student Outreach Assistant, I work every day with students in the U.S. who are fiercely committed to serving the poor. These students will become clinicians, educators, policymakers, and more -- pitting their education against poverty and disease. For their counterparts in Haiti, Rwanda, Lesotho, Malawi, and Peru, even a basic education can be lifesaving and can equip children to advocate for their rights.

By donating today you'll help us support education activities like:
  • Haiti -- provide school fees and materials for 19,260 children.
  • Malawi -- provide school materials for 1,370 primary school students, especially orphans and vulnerable children.
  • Rwanda -- support 623 secondary school students with school fees and supplies.
  • Lesotho -- provide school fees and food packages for over 100 orphans and vulnerable children.
  • Peru -- measure height and weight in schools twice a year to identify and treat malnourished children.
Invest in the communities we serve -- give $25 in honor of a student you know:

In solidarity,
