Margaret Anne,
What you and the other churches do for Chapoteau is great. The Adopt a Village program was developed by Father Lafontant and is strongly encouraged by him. We want all churches to continue with their adopted villages for the foreseeable future. The work is life changing.
Funds for your village should be sent through the Diocese and designated for Chapoteau. Julie will the send them through PIH or in some cases directly to Marie Flore, who will insure they are spent as they are intended. It would be good to let someone on World Missions know when you send funds and for what purpose, so we can help direct other efforts with this knowledge. Chapoteau was not one of the villages concerned in the issues that Father Lafontant was concerned about. In short, keep up the good work.
The point I was trying to make about Bread and Water is that it is now the primary priority as set by Father for the immediate future, so we don't need to start other projects until the water system is rebuilt and the vocational school is completed. However, it does not mean that we do not need to keep up our obligations to our "adopted" villages.
I will try to work with Julie to assure that we can provide specific accounting for each gift to Haiti, whether Bread and Water, adopted villages or whatever. Julie does an outstanding job in my opinion with the information she gets. Funds come in to the Diocese from so many different sources, sometimes without the proper information and direction, and it makes it hard to always provide the detailed information we would all like. Again, we use PIH primarily to transfer funds to the proper use in Cange, just because they have such an excellent system in place.
Hope this addresses your concerns. Please let me know.
Best regards, Earl

And in an earlier exchange I asked about the World Missions Committee--- would anyone like to serve? Margaret Anne
