Diana,

I regret that I will not be able to attend. I will be serving at SSSJ that Sunday. Our priest is on vacation.

Enjoy the day,
Roz

Greetings,

"Haiti Sunday" at St. Francis was a mind boggling success!  The front of our service bulletin was emblazoned
with the LaFontant Cross with the words "the Gifts of Bread and Water" across it.  Father Phil Purser
preached a soul wrenching sermon on "Giving and on Receiving".  During the announcement period the following
took place...Dan Spencer presented to the church a framed picture of the plaque at Chapoteau naming the churches
that helped build it (including St. Francis);  Pam Steude presented the Alter Guild the purificator that Jackie Williams
sent from the Artisan Center in Cange; Ken McKellar presented a LaFontant Cross for the church and recognized the
group that made the trip to Cange in June; Diana Powers presented a framed picture of the huge inscription on the
side of Bon Sauveur High School in Cange honoring Bishop Bill Beckham to his widow, Harriet, and granddaughter, Shannon.
The twelve Beckham family members attending were introduced.

Following the service, a reception and photography display(some as old as 1982 and some new) were held in the Parish Hall.
Paul Palmer's amazing slide show of our recent trip to Cange was running in the Parish Hall for all to see.  Paul had also
prepared a copy of the tapestry that adorns the lectern at Bon Sauveur Church in Cange for us to display.

Concurrently a business meeting was held in the library of the St. Francis Outreach Committee (the committee that dispenses
funds earned in the St. Francis Thrift Shop).  Gillaine Werne addressed the committee about the Vocational/Agricultural School
at Corporant and the need for $200,000 to finish the school (less the United Thank Offering Grant of $68,000).  Ken McKellar
addressed the group and explained the need to repair the water system at Chapoteau.  It was voted to repair the water system
at a cost of $18,385.26 and to match the UTO Grant of $68,000 to finish the Vocational/Agricultural School.  It was unanimously
agreed to make these donations in memory of Bishop Beckham.  Hallelujah!

After all was said and done the visitors and the St. Francis Haiti team had lunch at Diana's and celebrated.

So sorry I missed it. Sounds like a wonderful acknowledgement of a long term relationship.

Diana,

Thank you for the update on Haiti Sunday at St. Francis.  Haiti Sunday might be an idea which other churches among the Chapoteau Partners might emulate.
