I just tried to see if I could pay my property tax bill online, as it was announced that this was an option now.  After navigating the really bad website interface to make my payment, and having to click on a "submit payment" then a "Process Payment" button before even providing my financial information, I finally got to the last page that included the small detail that wasn't disclosed in the announcement about this facility, which is that there would be an additional "$135.21 site fee" along with the payment.

So, I think I'd rather mail a check or stop by at the town hall, rather than pay an extra $135.21 fee to pay my pay tax bill!  I'm really annoyed that this was not disclosed upfront (as I wouldn't have wasted my time).  I would consider this a "non-feature" of the Town's Tax collection process.  Just as with income tax payments, you can almost always find some company that would be willing to make the payment for you, if you first pay them by credit card, along with an extra service fee.  At that point, it's no different than subjecting yourself to some other userous method of borrowing money, like using a PayDay loan.

Anyway, just wanted to let folks know to maybe save a bunch of time and hassle to find out for yourself.

Chris
