The company I'm working with is looking to pick up a second software
engineer. The job is in Columbus, Georgia, and the work must be done
on-site; no telecommuting, sorry. This is a salaried position starting
at ~$30K per year, and the pay is weekly. You might be able to squeeze
insurance out of the deal, I don't know. It's a good possibility. Pass
this on to any hungry IT worker you know who might be interested please.
Here's the nuts and bolts.

-----

Position: Web Software Developer
Company: Motor Carrier Business Solutions, Inc.

This is an entry level position that is slotted as a PERMANENT
position, no contracts. Employee will work with me to build a load board
for truckers. If you aren't familiar with this, check out
http://www.neversit.com. That's a project which recently split with our
company, and which we'll be writing software to compete against. I'm
working on separate software, and the two pieces will tie in to a single
database architecture. Expect to work very closely with me the whole
time. I don't know if you will be subordinate to me or not, but even if
you are, as long as you do what you're supposed to I'll gladly leave you
alone. My boss is the same way.

Here's what you should know if you want the job:

- At least a basic proficiency in PHP
- Good proficiency in HTML/DHTML/CSS
- Good proficiency with SQL, focusing on MySQL and PostgreSQL
- Familiar with the unholy beast that is the XML standard, RPC would
also be nice
- Must know at least some Unix/Linux; you won't have any admin duties,
that's all falling on me, but it'd be nice if you knew your way around a
bash shell
- Familiarity with Apache (I admin it, but just in case you have to
work with it, it'd be nice if you were familiar with it)
- Knowledge in other languages is definitely a plus, and I'll prefer
scripters over hard coders. Knowing Python is better than knowing C/C++
for this job. No, we're not using Java.
- Must be able to work on your own and maintain your own milestones. We
don't have alot of chiefs at this company, and there's even less chiefs
over the IT staff (me and whoever gets this job), and I'd like to keep
it that way.
- Prefer someone with knowledge of Subversion, but I can train on-site
if necessary

You should expect us to cross-train in each other's code and techniques
quite a bit, as this person will be next in line for my job should I get
hit by a bus.

If you want the job, email your resume to me and...@aklabs.net or
akest...@trkbiz.com, or give me a phone call at 706-604-8728. I'll
pass your information on to my employer, or setup an interview.

Hi Andrew,

Would you like me to post this at CSU's website (
http://cs.colstate.edu/students/job_listings.aspx ) for our alumni to see?

cheers

Sure, more exposure never hurt. You might want to clean up my wording a
little bit if it's gonna be a university site though. Thanks.
