i am not convinced of your indications, Stephen. You well know that to
day everyone tries to bring water to his mill and the world of the
magazines has become very complex and involved along many different
ways. In fact I see that in your link the list involves also journals as
Frontiers that instead in the attention of many researchers is
considered the best one. Of course there are very excellent journals
that from years are attempting to obtain an IF and this is forbidden and
the motivations remain unclear. I know only one thing. I have published
on wjns and other
scirp.org articles and I have had always some detailed
advantages : I had an open access without so high payment and my article
was on line and open to all. My articles WERE always peer reviewed and I
received attention and assistance also in the language since I am not a
native english. Only in an unfortunate case the paper appeared with
spelling errors since the interest was to speed up the publication for
the interest of the result. Other magazines require abot 30 USD for
purchase one article or require constant subscriptions that not all the
institutions are able to support in the costs. Finally , in wjns I found
a lot of valuable reserachers from Australia to America to Europe that
constantly publish valuable reserach on this journal. Are all
researchers that must be involved in a negative evaluation because they
published on this journal? I do not retain. Finally there is the problem
of the contents. One looks at the contents of the articles. I see that
so much magazines continue to publish articles that are as example
methodlogically uncorrect. How much articles do you find that as example
continue to use Fourier in HRV, They never mention that to use Fourier
one should have stationary, linear and periodic signals and instead HR
is non periodic, non stationary and NON LINEAR. I never had also the
most little indication that scirp journals have some different project
respect to scientificty. If I had this impression immediately I had
suspended any submission. Always I submitted my articles, always I had
confirmation of reception, always I had the referee evaluation also , in
some case, with evidente indications of major corrections, always I
payed an open access as many and many other journals. Finally., before
siubmitting to a magazine I look at the Ediotorial Board. And I see that
the Editorial Boards of sirp journals are very satisfactory. And there
are so many magazines that have an Editorial Board in the stars and do
not arrive to an IF. Strategy? There is another consideration. We have
to day archives where everyone may post his articles . Arrxiv as
example. One is free to deposit here all his publications and , in
particular in the past years, not referee action was required. Arxiv to
day is a fundamental reference in all the world and is constantly quoted
and may be quoted in all the journals. What is the conclusion? Strategy!
I have not elements to defend scirp or to denigrate it. I know only that
I do my work and that I submit to a magazine or another and that all ,
or quite all, require money for the open access. I only do my effort of
researcher that is one to produce scientific results that published are
subjected to the evaluations of other researchers so that are improved
tanks to the indications of other scholars that read and collaborate by
their criticism. This is science in my modest opion. The other is matter
that I have difficulty to identify. When I find the journal named .... I
cannot go to a police station to investigate. I evaluate the published
artciles, evaluate the Editorial Board, I evaluate the money that is
necessary, i evaluate the diffusion that is able to assure I cannot do
more. I am a reseracher. No more. A fianl consideration. I see that
scirp journals contain articles from different universities in the
world. May be that they are all to be insulted in their competence?.
