Just wanted to let you all know that we have a public calendar with
any 612-related events up and running! The links are at the bottom
of this email. You can see the build season timeline (incl. kickoff
and ship day) as well as the competition dates.
For kickoff this year, everyone should get to school at 10 AM on
Saturday. We'll immediately begin work on the new robot as they
announce the game. This is the first regular season event, and we hope
to see everyone there!
There are three competitions this year that we hope to attend. These
are all on the calendar in the March-April time frame.
1. Chesapeake Regional - We hope to get in to this regional
competition. Currently we are on the waiting list. Because of
transportation times into Baltimore, we are planning on staying
overnight there. In order to get a good rate for hotels, we need
to know how many people are planning on going to this regional ASAP.
NOTE THAT FOR THIS REGIONAL STUDENTS WILL INCUR TRANSPORTATION AND
LODGING COSTS. 612 DOES NOT HAVE FUNDS APPROPRIATED TO PAY FOR THE
COST OF ATTENDING THIS REGIONAL.
Additionally, should we not get in to the Chesapeake Regional, we
will attempt to get in to another regional that is not prohibitively
far away. Alternative regionals include the regionals located in
Richmond and Pittsburgh. We will, for sure, attend the DC Regional.
2. Washington, D.C. Regional - We have gotten in to this regional.
For this regional, transportation costs ARE COVERED BY YOUR DUES.
THE ONLY CHARGE FOR STUDENTS WILL BE THE COST OF LUNCH. Lunch can
be bought either at the convention center (be prepared to pay a
premium for convenience) or at one of the many restaurants in the
surrounding area such as Subway (but outside food is not allowed
inside the convention center so you must eat outside).
3. FIRST Championships in St. Louis - We must qualify for this event
at one of the above Regionals. More information concerning the
championships will be forthcoming should we qualify.
