Both Noor and Maatr are female-centric movies and came on the back of good hype and promotions prior to the release. The Sonakshi Sinha starrer was released in over 1,450 screens in the domestic market, while the Raveena Tandon starrer opened in 350 screens on April 21. They were expected to fetch decent numbers at the ticket counters, but that wasn't to be.
Both films received mixed response from the audience and critics and the word of mouth failed to boost their collection on Saturday. Noor showed some growth, but it was not upto the mark. On the other hand, the collection of Maatr remained same on its second day.
Noor was expected to smash the records of Sonakshi Sinha's previous woman-oriented film Akira, which collected Rs 5.02 crore nett at the domestic box office on its opening day. The two-day total of Noor is little more than half of the latter's first day business. With this kind of response in its opening weekend, the movie is sure to become the biggest disaster for the actress.
The film shows little interest in the process of her transformation, or the details of how she plans her revenge. Worst of all, her grieving is apparently too unimportant to dwell on. After one rushed sequence to generate audience sympathy, the film quickly moves to the vengeance part. Raveena is now the angry woman and will not let anybody stop her.
