[Changemakers PK]

Hi!

 

As you must be aware, Pakistanis have been disallowed access to Facebook. This is a ban that is affecting millions of people from connecting, sharing news, providing services, and undertaking projects for larger good such as Pakistan Changemakers Hub. While this has deeply affected us technically and, more so, dampened the spirits -- it is my promise to you that this project will be delivered.

 

Indeed, Step 1 (of 3) -- a platform where Change Hunters can create a free, online, open visual directory of Changemakers is nearly ready. Yesterday, I tested the demo and it works well. PCH needs to determine if the system we have chosen -- a UShahidi-based platform -- is indeed the best choice to serve our needs today and tomorrow. We are testing two things: 

• The different ways of sending in profile data (Email, Web, SMS)
• The ability of data to be exported to a wiki profile (that can be edited/ added to later)

We are also going to make it look pretty! All this should be ready by the promised launch date: the end of first week of June 2010.

 

The other good news: PCH is studying a system that will allow people to connect with Changemakers and projects in their communities. More on this later!
