Ok, I put something together you can share with others. I'm posting this now as I have to run off for a while, and I'd like to get *something* out to people so we avoid delaying reaching out to people on the contact list. Doesn't have to be perfect. I wrote it as bullet points, because I think in the end you have to be comfortable speaking using your own words. Here are some key points:

ChangeCamp message

Best if people put this in their own words I think. Key points we want to get across:

  1. ChangeCamp aims to make it easy for local organizers to engage their community using new tools and methods.
  2. Our kickoff event is happening June 26 at Sault College. This is a full day event. The question we want people to focus on is "How can we work together to create our desired future"?
  3. Why come? Make connections, build bridges. Tap into creative ideas, energy. Real change happens at the grassroots. The unconference format encourages open participation. The people coming set the agenda. Bring the issues you and your organization are most passionate about and be prepared to lead a conversation.
  4. Previous events like Ignite Sault and Soo Podcamp demonstrate a real hunger to engage with and be inspired by each other. The future is now.
  5. The ChangeCamp event is just the beginning. We intend to help people and organizations create change in the community by introducing new tools and methods they can use.
  6. We are part of a national effort. ChangeCamp is happening across the country, with events in Windsor, London, Halifax, Ottawa, Edmonton, Toronto. Goal is to have hundreds of ChangeCamp efforts,
Please respond with any other ideas/feedback. What key points have I missed?

Thanks for the offer to brainstorm with me Joanne, just didn't work out on my end time-wise.

The winds of change across Canada are blowing through the Soo!

Change is coming...

Change Camp is coming to the Soo.

June 26.  Sault College. 9am?

Be the change.   Got change? Change Camp!  Working together to create our desired future.

Share some change?

(I’ll go back to work now)

Nice. I really like the point, especially when approaching organizations, is how this event can engage their constituents/audiences to create their desired change... it puts that "what's in it for me" right in their face!

I may also add a point about what is next. ie:

This event kicks off the exchange of ideas and networking to build a community of change around individual inspirations and goals of focus but we intend to keep this spirit going beyond June 16th.

We need to give it a sense of longevity I think...

And Gerry, I also got hijacked in my work/work stuff and just haven't had too much time to organize the official brainstorm. Next time! But your brain seemed to work quite well on its own :)

Cheers all

I like your addition, Joanne.

John, we'll keep your ideas in mind for poster tag lines. :) What we're working on now are talking points when contacting people in the community.

Ok people, now you know what to say, let's get out and mingle.

I commit to calling this weekend Bill Murphy, emailing Michael Purvis, talking with Curtis Collins. I've already had brief chats with Tony Martin and Jeff Arbus, will follow up with them again, just not this weekend.
