Someone requested a rainfall meter ?

Someone asked if this could be made during the begining of
changecamp ... well it can.
enter in a mailing address, if google maps can recognize it then it
"should work".
the app looks up weather station information and figures out how much
rain there has been in the last 7 days then averages it.

This is still in alpha and actually this is the first rails app i have
ever deployed :)

Hey John!

Cool, this looks like the beginnings of a great app. Would you mind throwing the code up on Github? The Ottawa Ruby list would also love to see this, so please let them know.

For those curious about how this came up: there was an idea hatched a while ago to have your lawn message you when it needed to be watered, having a system check the predicted rainfall ahead, preventing situations where you water your lawn right before it rains to reduce water consumption and give you a great excuse not to have go out to set up sprinklers.
