(also posting on visiblegovernment-discuss, and open-gov)
Last week VisibleGovernment was asked to help prepare part of an 'open
data' campaign platform for a Canadian mayoral candidate. While as
an organization, we can't support a particular candidate, having a
generic open (local) data campaign platform that can be picked up for
use by any candidate seems like a good resource for those who don't
yet live in an 'open' city. This is also a fantastic opportunity for
crowd-sourcing.
Would anybody be interested in participating in writing and editing a
short 1-2 page campaign platform for local open government data, that
could be used as a template by any municipal candidate? Like any
platform, the document has to have a strong marketing component,
selling the ideas to average citizen.
If you're interested, please respond, or write me at jennifer at
visiblegovernment.ca and indicate:
- whether you're interested in authoring a first draft (est. 5-8
hours, or more (!))
- whether you're interested in rating and editing first drafts (est.
3 hours or so)
- whether you'd rather come in at a later stage to rate and make
suggestions. (1 hr?)
I could see a reasonable finished product being produced in the next
3-4 weeks. It could be really cool.
