Folks,
As some of you may know I am deep into a grant management
implementation at the Ministry of Research and Innovation. As part of
that work I am looking at alternatives in the space for various
projects.
I have found 2 projects that were open sourced in September 2010.
One is a Microsoft Dynamics based system called Grants360. It comes
with the usual MS disclaimers. But it looks really cool and there is a
demo script available without having to install anything on
codeplex.com
www.microsoft.com/grants360
Another very interesting project is Project Fluxx from Solpath.org and
Energy Foundation in San Francisco. It is a full Ruby on Rails
implementation of a foundation/grant management system. It is still
missing a front office and reporting component but the foundation is
there. And the UI is startingly elegant and iPhone like.
I've setup a sandbox for Fluxx at
fluxx.newpathconsulting.com
If you would like to experiment for your foundation please let me
know. Would be happy to explore how open source can help to manage the
grant process.
