to dongle
Hello everyone, I am using Asterisk Freepbx on Raspberry Pi 3 with Huawei E169 Dongle. I have set the Postfix to get SMS through Gmail. Everything works fine so far.

My problem is, SMS Messages are being split into 160 character pieces so I am getting multiple emails for a single message. as you know these days phones are sending and receiving multiple text messages as if one single message.

Is there a way to send and receive SMS messages through Groundwire Voip App's SIP messenger? Or is there a way to make Asterisk to send the message in one single email body instead of splitting them?

Now I am sending SMS through www.mydomain.com/SMS interface. Which looks very low profile in terms of User Experience:)

Many thank you in advance,

I know that.

AFAIK NO. SMS standard (ETSI FSK XX) define 'sms splitting' if the
message goes past the 140 byte, but it is the receving terminal that
have to take the parts and rebuild the 'long' messages.

Actually chan_dongle have not done so; you can work with scripts and
dialplan to try to do so.

Someone here take a different approach, eg disable SMS hadling in chan
dongle and 'plug' something other (GAMMU, ...) to the USB keys (seems
to work in different serial interfaces, so can cohesist).

I wonder if i am the only one who needs a solution for this 140 character problem... so strange that it has not been solved already.

As stated some years ago, the ETSI FSK standards about SMS are too
complex that it really hard to re-implement them in a dongle channel
driver.

So, really the best approach seems to ''decuple'' SMS hadling from
asterisk, and have 'something other' (gammu? smsserver?) to handle
them.
