Hi All,

I have Huawei E3131 dongle with voice calls enabled (It's work perfect on Windows with Mobile Partner)

I tried to connect it with Asterisk. It works great, when i am performing incoming calls. But there is a problem when I tries to make outgoing call. The phone is ringing at the called party, but when the call is answered:
- there is no sound (in both directions)
- dongle device disappears from Asterisk '(dongle show devices' display nothing). After restarting Asterisk, device appears again and can handle incoming calls (but outgoing still doesn't work).

Does somebody have a clue what could be cause of such behaviour ? Maybe some otheres modemes behave similary ? How can I start debugging problem ?

Hi:

This uses to be a power issue. At max power (during a call) dongles uses
to reset when power is not enough.

Check DMESG, for sure you can see the USB disconnection.

Try with another power source for your dongle. A powered USB hub, or,
simply, another USB port.

Hi Alejandro - Thank you for quick response.

I will buy powered HUB today and make some tests. But it is strange for me, that when I am calling (on the same PC and USB port) through Mobile Partner - there is now such problem.
I suspect that if the problem would be the power supply, it would occur in both cases, since it is the same machine (I run Asterisk on VirtualBox)

Running in virtual box does not feel like a good idea to me. You the relying on to much magic.

Finally  I was able to run E3131 + Asterisk 11 + Virtual Box. My problem was that I tried to compile chan_dongle with version Asterisk 13. I found sources (https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=54343) prepared against v13 - but I suppose it is not tested completly.
When I back to A11 and this sources (https://code.google.com/p/asterisk-chan-dongle/issues/detail?id=92) everything works good.

will be downgrade to 11 version too :-(
