I was wondering if the Old Boyz club has a constitution or not. Perhaps, it is high time we developed one to govern amongst other things, such issues as:
· Vision, mission and objectives;
· Registration and type of body it should take;
· Office bearers and terms of office;
· Secretariat – if need be – which must be tasked with record-keeping, e.g., of members, financial records, etc.;
· Funding covering such issues as establishment of bank accounts, membership subscriptions, fundraising initiatives;
· Application of funds – we should have a policy to govern what the funds would be used for;
· Interaction with other key stakeholders, e.g., the school itself, the Marianist office, government, private sector, etc.;
· Other pertinent issues that have not been included above.
I do know that this would require a lot of time and could delay the immediate initiative required to help the school if this were to be a prerequisite. Whilst we are looking at the above issue, may be we can kickstart the process by opening a bank account in the name of the Old Boys Club so that we could start pushing in the contributions. Meanwhile, we should organize a meeting so we can interact and map the way forward.
