Did you side more with Liz or Lisa in the way
they handled their parents' addiction and behavior? Why?

I can't really say I "sided" with either daughter. I feel that I understood both of their choices. Liz stays close and helps with the effects of the drug use. She craves the love and attention of her parents so much that she is willing to deal with the ugliness of their addictions. Lisa pulls away. Of course, if this story were being told by Lisa, it would allow us to share her thought processes like we do Liz's. All we know is how Lisa seemed to Liz. Ironically, while Lisa is portrayed as the sister who "removed" herself from the daily struggle...she is the one who remains loyal to her mother all the way to the end of her life.
