The winter snows are melting and spring is just around the corner! March and April is going to be busy at the Plaza!
This month, we have two fundraisers. One will appeal to country music lovers, while the other is for fans of rock ‘n’ roll. This weekend, March the 9th, beginning at 6pm is the first event of the month. Willie Fest, presented by Real Country 94.1 WLYE. All of the proceeds from this event go to Kosairs Children’s Charities to help little ones who are sick and in need.
Marty Brown, Kentucky country music star and songwriter will perform along with the Greg Foresman Band and locals JD Shelburne and Colton Kise. Greg has performed at the Plaza with Greg Martin for blues nights, but also has a long legacy in country music, and has been Martina McBride’s guitarist for over 15 years. It will be a great show, with concessions, door prizes and a silent auction.
On March the 23rd, beginning at 6pm, the BCHS Beta Club presents Rockin’ for a Cure. All proceeds from this event go to Relay for Life. Local rock bands and players, KIC, Plain Jane, Burly Cruz and many more will play.
Tickets to both events are just $10, and can be purchased online now at www.plaza.org or by calling (270) 361-2101, in the box office during regular business hours or at the door.
On April 13th, Jenny Lu’s Country Revue will return with her Legends show; Jenny Lu will be accompanied by the very talented Country Revue Band, local musicians and an Elvis tribute artist. Tickets will go on sale next week. On the 19th of April Contemporary Christian artist, Guy Penrod, formerly of the Gaithers. Golden Circle tickets are $25, regular tickets are $18. The show starts at 7pm.
On the 20th of April All About Dance is holding their annual dance recital. For details and tickets, see our website.
And last, but certainly not least…
This Wednesday, March 6th tickets to the concert event of the season, Kentucky Music Hall of Fame and the Plaza Theatre presents the Kentucky Headhunters and Exile Live in Concert, go on sale. The event will be May the 4th. The tickets are priced at $100, $40 and $20. Tickets to a pre-show meet and mingle at the Stellar House off the square in Glasgow will be sold separately and in the BOX OFFICE ONLY. They are priced at $25.
Both bands, Exile and the Kentucky Headhunters will be inducted into the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame on April 12, 2013. This is a wonderful and rare achievement and these bands are two of the first Rock and Roll bands ever recognized and honored by the Hall of Fame. We hope the community of Glasgow/ Barren County and surrounding areas gives them a big, warm welcome on Derby weekend!
