I have tried this unique "wabi-cha" temae and loved it a lot.
I would appreciate it if anyone can post a link, even in Japanese,
with details on it for both ro and furo.

Thanks

Hi Ahmad,
Where are you at and do you have access to the "green" temae books or
the Chanoyu Quarterly?

If so, furo nagashidate (風炉流し点) is in green book 7 starting on page
238 in Japanese.
(It's funny they don't have the ro version since it is considered more
of a ro temae.)

In the Chanoyu Quarterly
ro nagashidate (炉流し点) is in issue 83 starting on page 62 in English
furo nagashidate (風炉流し点) is in issue 84 starting on page 57 in English

Let us know if you can get to those sources, if not maybe someone can
get them or other notes to you somehow.

Hey Aaron,

Thanks a lot for the tip. I went to the book store (in Tokyo), and found the nagashidate as you told me in the 7th volume.
Also I checked in the 8th book to see the ro version, but it wasn't -as you said-, which must have slipped their minds when they were making the series.

I currently have a Japanese teacher who taught me how to perform it, but I posted the discussion here, to see if there is anything online on the temae.

I once went to the Urasenke Chado research centre in Kyoto, where they had some of the Chanoyu quarterly issues for sale, but not the complete issues.

I didn't buy the green book, because I am planning on getting a full series, so I want to see other updated options.

All the English books just scratch the surface of chanoyu, which can be frustrating, especially when you see the amount of Japanese books in comparison.

Thanks again, and have a nice weekend,

Ahmad

Hi

It is almost impossible to get a full sett of Chanoyu Quarterly. Most of us have a collection of some favorite issues (or what ever we could get our hands on). In addition there was a set of papers in circulation containing all the temae records from all 88 issues of quarterly. This set of photo copies is what you should try to get your hand on. The temae description in quarterly is not as accurate as the green books. The green books are seen as the correct way by most. I have made a list of what you can find in the green books: http://wiki.chado.no/GreenBooks and where to find it.

Thanks Marius for the tip.
I will keep an eye on the Chanoyu Quarterly. I guess when I had my hands on them in the Chado research centre, I didn't know they were so rare, and went on to buy some general books on temae.

As for the green books, from what you say, it seems they are the standard reference, so I will consider getting the full 17 ones, but due to budget restrictions, they can wait a bit.

Thanks again,
Ahmad
