Hi.

Thanks for the notification.

Wish I could be there, but California is a long way from Ottawa, and I won't be able to take time off from work anyway. But it would be nice - so many decades since I've even seen a tea ceremony.

One day in the Carlingwood Mall I noticed that a place called Teaopia was serving matcha for a few dollars, so I thought I'd try it. It was stirred with a spoon and served in a Styrofoam cup. :) I still enjoyed it, but I'm afraid that some of the sensitive souls at Urasenke would imagine that they'd stumbled across a forgotten land of Neanderthals here. :)

Ha ha! I understand! Just trying to get the word out. :) Tea from any cup good, whether in styrofoam, crystal or humble raku.

Do you know about Camellia Teas there in Ottawa? https://www.facebook.com/camellia.teas Much closer to you than California!

Best wishes,
Holly

Hi.

Sorry for the delay responding. This is a busy time of year.

The link didn't word for me, but thanks for the tip re. Camellia.

In fact, I had recently heard of it - Omote-senke, I believe, but I guess that can be forgiven :). I haven't had time to look into it, though.

Hi.

Thanks again.

Boy. She's got all the bases covered, that's for sure.

So, it's not cheap to do chanoyu here.

Reminds me of martial arts. I was probably paying about $10 a month for Judo in Kyoto. Here, that wouldn't quite pay for one lesson.

Kind of funny, but people even pay for Zen here. About all that was expected at Daitokuji was that you help out in the garden or sweep the graveyard from time to time.
