Ten Commandments

Dear Anonymus Person,

Think of the many things you’ve learned. How many are still needed? You learned to spell. Spell check does that for you. You learned to knock a nail. Nailguns do that for you. You learned your parents’ phone number by heart. What would you even do with that now? You learned to articulate yourself in writing. AI does it for you, arguably better than you would.

But there are some things that no one can do for us. Have you learned to love? No one can do that for you. And neither can anyone learn Torah — the love language of G-d and His Chosen People — for you.

So join your local Chabad Center for an all-night human-to-human Torah study experience (on May 21) and then come back the next day (May 22) to hear the 10 Commandments followed by a post-service dairy reception.

With wishes that we all lovingly re-accept the Torah this Shavuot joyfully and deeply,

Your Friends @ Chabad.org

At the Giving of the Torah, G-d’s voice was heard throughout all of creation proclaiming, “I am the L-rd your G-d Who took you out of Egypt.” Is this really G-d’s greatest accomplishment? Why didn’t He say, “I have created heaven and earth?”
