I will have to setup a small sms-gateway service (for at most 20-100
messages/day), and I'm wondering what is the best solution: 100% DIY
by connecting the gsm directely to a server, or over an all-in-one
service, like the one of ecall.ch...

Conditions:
- it should be possible to retrive the sms delivery status
- most of the trafic will be in .ch, but there will also be
messages to .de, .uk, .se, .fr, etc. : roaming (in/out) should
be supported
- must work under *nix (freebsd/linux)

For the DIY (do-it-yourself) way, a m-budget or coop-mobile
contract seems to be the cheapest (0.10/sms), and afaik it's
the same price for foreign countries. At ecall.ch, there
are 'roaming' costs for all countries...

I'll continue my research for an optimal solution, but
if you have suggestions/hints, you're very welcome :)
(http://freshmeat.net/search/?q=sms -> 143 projets...)

regards,
Olivier

Correction: 0.10/sms only for sms to Switzerland with M-budget
(0.20 for the other countrie), but 0.10/sms for everywhere
@coop (orange).

Hi,

Our company is offering a all-in-one solution on http://www.truesenses.com

Depending on your volume the price will be below 0.10 CHF per SMS
towards Switzerland (all networks).

Some international networks are subject to interworking termination
charges (such as .de for example). The cheapest way to reach them is a
DIY solution by using one of the flat-rate SMS offers as you've mentioned.

- Realtime processing with immediate delivery
- Delivery status tracking is supported
- Full origin ID support
- Binary messages can be sent (including WAPPush links in case you need
them)
- Shell Scripts (curl) or PHP can be found on:

http://www.truesenses.com/website/pages/help/

Should you like to try the service, sign-up on our site and contact me
off-list and I will give you some sample credits to try the system.

Regards,
Marcel
