Hi All
Apologies for all the information session emails I seem to be sending of late, if it doesn’t rain - it hails!
However, following on from my earlier email regarding important changes to the Food Act. If either, your organisation or your clubs, run catering/canteen/bbq operations than they should have someone in attendance at the information session to ensure they hear firsthand how these changes will affect you.
This is a reminder that you and your affiliates have until COB Tuesday 23 July 2013 to RSVP for the Information Session and the online survey has been extended and will now close on COB Monday 15 July 2013. My previous email with details is attached below, please forward as required to your affiliates.
Please contact our Healthy Food @ Sport Officer, Grant Voysey on 6207 1696 or email grant....@act.gov.au should you have any queries.
Regards
Pip

Subject: Changes to the Food Act 2001 and how they will impact on the way your canteen/BBQ service or self catered events in the ACT
Hi
Please find important information from our Healthy Food @ Sport Officer, Grant Voysey below, contact him on 6207 1696 or email grant....@act.gov.au should you have any queries.
Is your state sporting organisation and affiliate clubs aware of the changes to the Food Act 2001 and how they will impact on the way you deliver your canteen service, barbeque service or self catered events in the ACT?
Recent amendments to the Act requires all registered food businesses in the ACT have a trained Food Safety Supervisor in place by 1 September 2013.
Sport and Recreation Services (SRS) in conjunction with the Health Protection Service, ACT Health invites all state sporting organisations (SSOs) and affiliate club canteen managers and committee members to attend an industry information session. This session will update the sport and recreation sector on the changes to the Act and it will outline the action your club/organisation will be required to take.
The Information Session will be held on:
Date: Tuesday 30 July 2013
Time: 6.30pm – 8pm
Location: Ainslie Football Club, Wakefield Avenue Ainslie
Cost: Nil
RSVP: By Tuesday 23 July 2013 via the electronic registration form
In the lead up to the session, SRS would request that you complete a short online survey to gather a snapshot of the range of services (canteen, barbeque, self catered events and cake stalls) that are currently operating in the sector and the range of food and drinks items that are being offered.
Please note that your answers are anonymous and this information will not be used by the ACT Government to enforce compliance of the changes to the Act.
SRS is seeking the assistance of SSOs to complete the survey if they deliver one of the services highlighted above and to disseminate and coordinate submissions from their affiliate clubs.
The online survey will take approximately 5 - 10 minutes to complete.
The Sporting Club/Organisation Food and Drink survey is available at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/SRSfoodanddrinksurvey
For information on the changes to the Food Act 2001 please visit ACT Health Website.
For further information on the food and drink survey or the industry information session, please contact Grant Voysey at Sport and Recreation Services on 6207 1696 or email grant....@act.gov.au.
Kind Regards
Pip
