USCG-USPHS-NOAA UNIFORMED RETIREE COMMUNITY DoD RESPONSE TO COVID-19 – DoD ID CARDS AND BENEFITS   DoD has published updated policy guidance regarding issuance, renewal, and reissuance of Common Access Cards (CAC) and Uniformed Services ID Cards (USID) at: https://www.cac.mil/Coronavirus/  ("CORONAVIRUS" Tab).  This policy guidance is in effect through 30 Sep 2020.  FAQs are provided on the same page at: https://www.cac.mil/Portals/53/Documents/cacmil_COVID-19_FAQs_20200407.pdf?ver=2020-04-07-192723-223    USID Highlights: If a cardholder's affiliation is unchanged, USID cards which expired on or after January 1, 2020, are authorized for continued benefit use through September 30, 2020. Termination of cardholder affiliation with the DoD or termination of benefit eligibility shall be verified electronically prior to confiscating an expired USID card with an expiration date on or after January 1, 2020. Remote USID card renewals and reissuance shall be expanded. Remote family member enrollment/eligibility updates are authorized. Remote USID card initial issuance for first-time issuance or replacement of lost/stolen ID card is authorized. The Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) will continue to be the authoritative source to verify statutory eligibility for DoD Healthcare and other benefits.   DEERS, TRICARE, USID Highlights (4/2/2020 Newsfeed): https://milconnect.dmdc.osd.mil/milconnect/public/faq/DEERS-TRICARE_and_DEERS A current Military ID Card is NOT needed to be eligible for TRICARE benefits. Eligibility is based on the sponsor's status and family member's relationship with the sponsor. To be eligible and enroll in TRICARE, you must be registered in DEERS.   Incorrect information in your DEERS record can cause problems with TRICARE claims and other health care benefits. It's critical you maintain accurate DEERS records. Milconnect is a portal that allows sponsors and their eligible beneficiaries to access personal information through a secure login. You are encouraged to review and update information related to your health care and other benefits at: https://milconnect.dmdc.osd.mil/milconnect/ The DMDC/DEERS Support Office (DSO) supports retirees by responding to questions on DEERS enrollment, TRICARE eligibility, and Military ID Cards, and helping to register in milConnect. Hours of Operation are 5:00am - 5:00pm PST Monday - Friday, excluding federal holidays. You may contact the DSO 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, through the automated system.
