Write Error

Hi All,

             I am facing one issue my DBA is not able to extend the file system there is  showing write error.

I have tried to copy some files in that file system but there is giving error

CP Write Error " there is not space on the Device" 

but when i have checked the file system there is space  available.

How to i can troubleshoot it??

Dear sumit,
As per your issue can u verify how many inode are free in partition. Also run fsck -y from single user mode to respective partition.

Hi Bharat,

                     Thank you very much for your reply, I have also checked there is something issue with the file system,

I need to run FSCK.

But now my query is there is any command or anything so that i can take the backup of that particular File system or VG.

So that if anything happen wrong with the file system i restore back same. i believe before run the FSCK i should be have

proper backup.  File system Size is 1.5 TB and Space Used 950 GB.
